Our Values
CROPSNet exists to strengthen the practice, evidence base, and professional community surrounding online postgraduate taught (PGT) education. Rooted in cross‑institutional collaboration and a commitment to improving student experience and pedagogical quality, we work to connect and support practitioners involved in planning, delivering, teaching, and leading online PGT programmes across the UK and beyond.
Our values and aims are shaped by our founding mission, our growing community, and our activities across research, events, and knowledge exchange.
We believe that online PGT professionals thrive when they learn from one another. CROPSNet fosters cross‑institutional cooperation by creating opportunities for colleagues to meet, share ideas, and build a supportive professional network. This includes seminars, conferences, networking events, and the CROPSNet Teams space, which enable continuous collaboration and dialogue.
High‑quality online postgraduate education requires a robust and evolving evidence base. We value the generation, sharing, and application of research that improves pedagogy, curriculum design, accessibility, and learning outcomes. By facilitating collaborative projects, spotlighting publications, and disseminating research through events and newsletters, we aim to strengthen sector‑wide understanding of what works in online PGT.
CROPSNet is committed to an inclusive community of practice. We champion the voices and development of early‑career professionals, staff from under‑represented groups, and those newer to online teaching. Across our events, resources, and community spaces, we promote equitable access to professional learning and ensure that diverse experiences inform the evolution of online PGT teaching.
We prioritise the wellbeing, learning experience, and success of online PGT students. Many of our founding activities emerged from work focused on supporting online student mental health and wellbeing. This commitment drives our exploration of innovative pedagogy, pastoral approaches, and digital tools that contribute to more engaging, supportive, and inclusive online learning environments.
We believe that professional development opportunities and teaching resources should be openly available wherever possible. Through free-to-attend seminars, free-to-access video recordings, guidance documents, and quarterly newsletters, CROPSNet aims to democratise access to knowledge across institutions and job families.
